Which Brands Are the Top Spenders in Indian Advertising as per Money Spent and What Are Their Budgets?

With every year passing, new companies and brands are coming into existence and they’re in an endless race to be the best. But in order to be the best, they need to increase their brand’s reach. The most preferred way for companies to build their brand is by advertising on televisions and on the internet as almost everyone is either watching the television or surfing the web. 1. Hindustan Unilever Ltd:

FMCG major Hindustan Unilever Limited has yet again topped the list after being in the first position in 2018 too. The company spent somewhere between 3200 – 3500 crore rupees in 2019 on advertising. Some of the brands for which they advertise are Ponds, Elle 18, Clinic Plus, Closeup, Taj Mahal, 3 Roses, Kissan, Dove, Lux, Rin, Surf Excel, Sunsilk, and many more.

2. Amazon Online India

Amazon Online India comes second on the list after shelling out 900 – 1000 crore rupees. The company advertises on TV as well as places ads on various websites. Most customers visit the website through these ads and it has been told that advertising has indeed increased their sales and customers.

3. Dream 11 Fantasy

Dream 11 Fantasy is a newcomer on the list and has pushed several brands down the list. The company is a fantasy sports platform and has cast MS Dhoni for their advertisements. The number of downloads skyrocketed for the app. Dream 11 Fantasy spent 700-800 crore rupees on advertisements.

4. Reliance Industries Limited

Reliance Industries Limited made it to the top 5 standing in the 4th place. The company has many products and brands including Reliance Smart, Reliance Fresh, Reliance Digital, Ajio, Teamspirit, Trends Footwear, Jio, DNMX, Performax, LYF, and more. The company spent between 700-800 crore rupees.

5. Maruti Suzuki India

Maruti Suzuki India isn’t a name that is not known in India. The company launches new cars almost every year and their advertising campaigns seem to be driving their sales. They spent 700 – 800 rupees on advertisements. Vitara Brezza, Ertiga are some cars for which they ran advertisements. Maruti Suzuki has been in the 5th position in 2018 as well just like in 2019.

6. Procter & Gamble

Procter & Gamble made in 6th on the list and fell 3 places down as compared to in 2018. Famous brands and products of this company are Tide, Pampers, Ariel, Ambi Pur, Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Olay, Old Spice, Gillette, Oral-B, Vicks, and more. P&G spent 700-800 crore rupees.

7. Vivo Mobile India

Vivo Mobile India stood 7th on the list and made their way quickly to the hearts of their users. They cast Aamir Khan for their advertisements and spent somewhere between 600 – 700 crore rupees. The company also sponsored the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is watched by millions of people, making it easier for the company to increase its sales.

8. Samsung India Electronics

Samsung India Electronics gathered a lot of attention with its #SamsungCares campaign. The company started providing servicing for appliances at customers’ doorsteps. Samsung is not only famous for its appliances but also for mobile phones. Samsung spent 600 – 700 crore rupees in the year 2019 on advertisements. The company fell two positions on the list as compared to 2018.

9. Oppo India

Oppo India is another newcomer on the list. Oppo became very famous in India in just a short span of time and is known for casting multiple actors for its advertisements. Actors Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Badshah, Sonam Kapoor, and cricketer Yuvraj Singh have signed deals to promote the phone brand in their advertisements. The company has spent 500 – 600 crore rupees.

10. Vini Products

The company Vini Products is famous for its cosmetics. Some brands and products are Fogg, Ossum, White Tone,  NUfeel, Glam-up, and more.Vini Products spent between 500 – 600 crore rupees on advertising their products. The company was on the 37th place in 2018 and now moved to the 10th place in the top spender's list for advertisements.

The next on the list are Reckitt Benckiser, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, ITC Ltd, Coca Cola India, Google India, Mondelez India, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter, Apple Computers India, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra.

As compared to the previous years, there is no doubt that there is a significant increase in the total amount spent by companies on advertisements. This amount will only increase in the near future as all of these brands are in a race to be the best.
